This spring, Hope WINS created two powerful opportunities for families to come together, learn, and grow in meaningful ways. By thoughtfully designing experiences that center both connection and education, these evenings reflected the heart of what it means to support the whole family.

In March, we brought together our Parent Support Group and R.I.S.E. Family Connection Night for one unified and intentional evening. Families began by sharing a family-style dinner, creating space to slow down, connect, and build relationships in a welcoming environment. This time of gathering set the tone for what followed, reminding us that community often begins around the table.

The evening continued with a shared learning experience led by Bonnie Foust, a retired special education teacher and author. Bonnie introduced families to Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as tapping, as a practical and accessible tool for managing emotions. What made this experience especially impactful was the decision to bring both parents and youth together for the session. Families were able to learn side by side, creating a shared language and understanding they could carry home with them. Bonnie’s approach blended professional expertise with warmth and relatability, offering strategies that felt both approachable and immediately useful.

In April, we continued building on that momentum with another engaging and meaningful evening. Families were welcomed with a locally catered taco bar, reinforcing our commitment to supporting local partnerships while creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.

Our featured speaker, Rebekkah Randecker from the AOK Network, guided parents through an interactive Parent Café centered on Child Abuse Awareness. This format encouraged open dialogue, reflection, and shared insight among participants. Rather than a traditional lecture, the experience created space for parents to engage with one another, ask questions, and explore important topics in a supportive setting.

While parents participated in meaningful conversation, children were engaged in activities that allowed them to connect, play, and feel part of the larger experience. The result was an evening that supported both learning and joy, reinforcing the importance of addressing family needs as a whole.

Across both events, several themes stood out clearly: strong attendance, meaningful engagement, and a shared commitment to growth. Families showed up, participated fully, and contributed to an environment where connection and support could thrive.

These evenings are a reflection of what is possible when community is built with intention. By bringing families together, creating space for shared learning, and offering practical tools and resources, Hope WINS continues to strengthen the network of support surrounding the families we serve.

We look forward to continuing this work and expanding opportunities for connection, learning, and growth in the months ahead.
